AQA has taken a unilateral decision to scrap the A-level in Polish from 2018. Are you going to lobby the AQA to reverse their decision? If yes, are there any other actions which you would undertake in order to preserve the Polish A-level?!

I am not an expert in this area, but I can understand that Polish is not a widely-used language outside Poland and so is not as useful as languages like French, German, Spanish, Chinese etc which are very widely used around the world

Poland was the most loyal ally of Britain in the Second World War. Would you support a ban on British media falsely labelling the German concentration and death camps as being “Polish” e.g. Polish ghetto, death camps of Poland, or, Poland’s Auschwitz?

I understand Poland’s contribution, especially to the RAF in which my grandfather served during WWII. I need also hardly remind you of the UK’s loyalty to Poland in that war – the reason that the UK entered the war in early September 1939 was because Germany invaded Poland. I agree that describing camps as Polish is misleading and wrong, as they were clearly run by the German Nazis.  However, I do not favour legislating to ban the media from using certain phrases or descriptions. I believe in free speech, and that includes the freedom for the media to say things that are wrong or offensive (like the example you give). It is up to other people to rebut it and point out that they are wrong whenever these things are said. If anyone says this to me, I would be happy to publicly correct them.

Do you support promoting information about the positive contribution of Polish immigrants to the economy of the UK?

I favour a balanced debate about immigration, with all the facts and statistics being carefully used and circulated.

In the event of Brexit, would you support granting an unconditional Indefinite Leave To Remain to the EU citizens who have lived and worked in Britain under the freedom of movement rules?

This is a long way off. I would expect that people who have lived and worked here a long time and are settled here would be fairly treated by being allowed to stay.

If you were to be elected to the Parliament, would you join and support the activities of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Poland?

I would be prepared to support any injustice suffered by the Polish community, but I do not think that I know enough about this to join the APPG. OI think MPs should only join APPGs they have proper expertise in.

Questions were sent out before the elections.
