AQA has taken a unilateral decision to scrap the A-level in Polish from 2018. Are you going to lobby the AQA to reverse their decision? If yes, are there any other actions which you would undertake in order to preserve the Polish A-level?!

I was very pleased to meet Mrs Wlostowska at the end of March, who came to see me regarding the concerns about the Polish A Level.  I understand she is a teacher at one of the Polish language schools in the City. I wrote to the Secretary of State as a direct result and was pleased to hear her announcement this last week from Nicky Morgan about the reinstatement of A Level Polish.

Poland was the most loyal ally of Britain in the Second World War. Would you support a ban on British media falsely labelling the German concentration and death camps as being “Polish” e.g. Polish ghetto, death camps of Poland, or, Poland’s Auschwitz?

I visited Auschwitz back in 2010 with a group of local 6th form college students, and I can certainly understand the use of the term “Polish” is deeply upsetting.  As far as I am concerned they were Nazi death camps and should be described as such.  However I am proud we have a free press in this country, and rather than ban the descriptions they sometimes use I do think a process of education and information is needed for them.

In the event of Brexit, would you support granting an unconditional Indefinite Leave To Remain to the EU citizens who have lived and worked in Britain under the freedom of movement rules?

I do not wish to leave the EU and anyone who visits the hospitals, care homes, farms, garages, shops, bars, restaurants etc can see the positive contribution the Polish community make here.  Of course I do not want to see them deported – and I would be astonished if any of the candidates from the mainstream parties would ever suggest such a thing.

If you were to be elected to the Parliament, would you join and support the activities of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Poland?

I shall certainly consider joining the APPG, if re-elected.

Questions were sent out before the elections.
