AQA has taken a unilateral decision to scrap the A-level in Polish from 2018. Are you going to lobby the AQA to reverse their decision? If yes, are there any other actions which you would undertake in order to preserve the Polish A-level?!

I strongly support the retention of minority language qualifications including Polish A-level. I think they are hugely valuable to the UK and I would use my parliamentary position to try to ensure they are retained. Last time that this was mooted back in the 90s we were able to save them and I’m confident that Labour will again. I recently spent a day at the Polish school in Ealing Abbey with staff/students and saw the valuable work done there. I have campaigned within the Labour party on this and am pleased to say that Tristram Hunt, shadow education secretary will reverse this decision that applies to a slew of minority languages including Urdu, Modern Hebrew and Japanese. Poland was the most loyal ally of Britain in the Second World War. Would you support a ban on British media falsely labelling the German concentration and death camps as being “Polish” e.g. Polish ghetto, death camps of Poland, or, Poland’s Auschwitz?

I of course support factual accuracy. Can you let me know where this misinformation is being spread? Politicians in the UK don’t control the media. Whilst i’s important that we have a free press in the UK obviously the press have a duty to report the truth to their readers and that includes informing their readers that it was the Nazis who were responsible for the Holocaust.

Do you support promoting information about the positive contribution of Polish immigrants to the economy of the UK?

Ealing Central and Acton is a very diverse constituency. I am myself the daughter of immigrants to this country and think the contribution of immigrants should be celebrated. The contribition of the Poles in Ealing is long and well-known. I went to school with many Poles including daughters of ex-servicemen and know that the Polish School has a 70 year history in our borough so yes believe that we should be propud of this history and acknowldege it more.

In the event of Brexit, would you support granting an unconditional Indefinite Leave To Remain to the EU citizens who have lived and worked in Britain under the freedom of movement rules?

I am very much opposed to Britain exiting the European Union. Every time a referrendum is mentioned by the Conservatives even by flirting with the exit door in order to appease UKIP the stock market goes a flutter. I think it would be very damaging to our country. Labour is a pro-European party whose policy is not to exit the EU – it has caused HSBC to think of moving their HQ from the UK. However if the worst was to occur I would support the right of EU citizens currently living in the UK to remain here.

If you were to be elected to the Parliament, would you join and support the activities of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Poland?

I would fully support this.
